We always speak about decluttering what is physically around us, yet sometimes I feel that we should turn to look at our mental health state as well. Like everyone, I am a victim of comparison. I am in constant unhappiness; feeling like my life isn't what I've thought it would be. I thought I should have a good job, a healthy relationship, married by now, mastered the purpose of my life - I faltered to a burn out.
But having a quick mindset change did help me a lot. Though I'll admit I need constant reminders, I would say having reminders is better than none. Here's a few quick phrases that have been helping me:
- Life is not unfair, unfortunate things happen to everyone - that's a fact, no matter what the social media is showing. Only happy moments are shown online, no one is going to post something embarrassing, it hurts everyone's ego, likewise yourself.
- Get comfortable with your own discomfort - instead of feeling like the world is against you and trying your best to go against it, acknowledge that you are comfortable with yourself and continuously refine. The best thing to do that you felt should have done years ago is to do it now.
- Live in the present - a step at a time. seems like an easy task but so many aren't doing it, even sometimes I fall out of line on this. Stop trying to think of the end goal, you'll only feel like it'll be so far away. Focus on what you currently have and work at it.
If there had been anything valuable I've learn from reading - it is that it takes time, there is no instant gratification. Similarly to what you want to do, learn and achieve.
This is the beauty of reading: it really makes you think a little deeper, reflect a little harder. While it is easy to fall out of line, I'm hoping to constantly to seize the effort to work on reading and refine who I am as a person.
