Declutter: 5 Minute Drawer Clean Out

One of my 2020 resolutions (to be frank, it's not really a 2020 resolution as I've bene doing this for awhile now) is to do the one of the most millennial things I could do: declutter. The Marie Kondo-ing; minimalism, essentialism, less is more movement - whatever.

I wanted to search the word declutter only to realise it's not really a real word.

through multiple trials and errors over the year(s) and multitudes of habit changes and space optimisation, I thought I should really do an mini accountability check through a post, and maybe share my learning journey online on how to declutter your space and ultimately your life. it won't even be a 10 minute read, it should be like a quick fix, a quick recipe because we millennials already have so much anxiety in our lives lol.

Here's one:

A 5 minute decluttering of your top drawer/ dressing table

What you'll need:
  • a brain
  • understanding of your habits
  • a wet cloth
  • some organization boxes
Instructions:
  1. Take out all of your items in the drawer
  2. Do a clean wipe with the wet cloth
  3. Throw away things that you never used
AND I MEAN THROW even if you have never used it
  4. Put your items into organization boxes by category
You can see below how I did it
For me my top drawer is where i typically reach for items easily: travel and skincare and misc.
  5. Done, easy peasy.
Before

After
After - segmentation of space

That's it, simple right, yes i did this in 5 minutes or less. yes it is always a working progress. yes, it will make you feel productive and happy you finally did something useful.
